Frequently Asked Questions
Do Your Programs Include Any Exercise, Weights Or Cardio?
No they don’t. My programs are firmly focussed on nailing the nutrition side of things (and understanding emotions this brings forward).
That famous saying ‘abs are made in the kitchen’ is very true.
Too much cardio can increase cortisol levels which, in turn, evokes a stress response in our body, which can literally make our body into a glucose making machine (stalling weight loss).
Am I saying that exercise is not important? No. I just defy that archaic logic of ‘eat less and move more’. Our bodies first need to rest and digest, using nutrition to heal. Healing happens before weight loss. Then weight loss happens. Then, our bodies reach a point where we have so much energy that we literally want to exercise and lift heavy things! All in good time and in the right order.
I Don’t Live In Australia, Can I Still Take Part In One Of Your Programs?
Of course! You can conquer one of my nutrition programs from anywhere in the world.
I recommend turning off the App sound notifications if you are on the opposite side of the world, so I don’t wake you up when I send through all the daily information and messages.
All messages and correspondence is sent from my end between 9am and 5pm Western Australian Standard Time, so there may be a up to a 12 hour delay in our correspondence if you are on the other side of the world.
I Am Type 2 Diabetic, Can I Still Take Part In One Of Your Programs?
If you are type 2 diabetic, both low carb and carnivore ways of eating are the path to reversal of diabetes. But, your insulin requirements would drop quickly and dramatically on my programs.
For this reason, I can’t take any responsibility for diabetic management. It is still possible to do my programs, but, at the beginning, you would need almost daily check ins with a GP practitioner to monitor your dropping blood sugar levels and adjust insulin to compensate.
Please discuss your intentions with a GP near you who specialises in low carb eating before starting one of my programs.
What Other Conditions May Not Be Suited To Your Nutrition Programs?
If you have any of the following conditions, please consult your doctor first, before starting one of my programs…
These conditions are considered outside my scope of practice, and need to be monitored closely by a clinical dietician.
- If you have had gastric bypass surgery.
- If you have had a diagnosis of disordered eating (anorexia/bulimia).
- If you been diagnosed with cancer or an autoimmune disease or cardiovascular disease.
- If you are under 16 years of age.
How Do I Pay For The Nutrition Programs?
When you decide to take part in a nutrition program, you will be invited to the Everfit nutrition program App.
All my programs are run through this App, including processing of payments. All prices are in Australian dollars.
When Do The Courses Start?
The courses all start on the 1st Monday of each month. You can join any day, and you will gain instant access to the training App and some welcome info to start preparing for your program.
You will have access to get to know the App, access to the forum to start chatting to those who are starting at the same time as you, and to start personalising your long and short term goals, but the actual info and program won’t start until the 1st of the next month.
How Do I Know Which Nutrition Course Is Best For Me?
I recommend booking in an initial zoom call with me and filling out my nutrition questionnaire prior to your call. This way we can both be focussed on your personal goals and I can best assist you in making a decision with the best program to suit you.
Can I Get A Refund If I Am Not Happy With The Programs?
For your peace of mind, you can try any of my programs risk free.
If at any time within the first 7 days you are not happy with the quality of the information and support, you can request a full refund with no questions asked.
Over What Time Span Would I Expect To See Results?
Good question! Everyone is different.
In the first two weeks, often you may see a slight weight gain, as you load up on nutrients to support your body through carbohydrate detoxing.
By the end of the first two weeks, you would have switched your whole fuel system from carbohydrate burning to fat burning.
For many, from this point on they find they can burn at least 500g of body fat per week without being hungry.
Many people who are overweight have been chronically under eating nutrients for a long time, though. If you have a lot of healing to do, a lot of nutrient deficiencies, and insulin or leptin resistance, it can take some time for the body to recognise enough nutrition coming in before it will let go of body fat.
This is a sustainable way of eating that works on healing and nutritional balance first. It is a way of eating that works on building and maintaining muscle mass as you lose body fat, because when we talk about losing weight, we only want to lose body fat (not muscle).
I Will Need More Than 90 Days To Reach My Goal Weight, What Support Is Available For Me After The Course Ends?
By the end of the 90 day program, you will have been exposed to all the tools and personalised education necessary to carry on on your own after the 90 days with confidence.
If, however, you would like to keep me as your accountability buddy throughout the rest of your weight loss journey, I would love to be there every step of the way.
I have an accountability package which is only available to those who complete one of my 90 day programs.
For $5.50 per week you keep your access to all the accountability functions including the food diary, measurement and metric tracking and direct messaging to me.
We are in this together, and I would love to keep supporting you on your journey and celebrating with you when you reach your goals.
Is Red Meat Bad For You?
Absolutely not. All the studies relating red meat consumption to cancer and heart disease are showing correlation, not causation.
Meat lovers pizza, hot dogs and burgers with chips are all considered red meat when these studies are conducted.
We need to stop blaming the meat for what the bread, sugar and seed oils are doing.
What About Cholesterol?
Yes, red meat and eggs and all animal products contain cholesterol. Cholesterol is protective for our cells, brain, immune system and mitochondria.
What we generally see (when people embark on a carnivore or animal based diet) is that they lose weight and see all their health issues improve or become eliminated.
But, their cholesterol goes up. This is not necessarily a bad thing if you feel amazing in every way.
I cover a lot of information and education about cholesterol in my programs, with links to cardiologists who recommend the carnivore way of eating for a healthy heart.
What About Fibre?
You won’t know how amazing your whole digestive system feels until you eliminate fibre.
It is certainly not essential for feeding the gut, eliminating constipation and ‘adding bulk’.
We chat a lot within our carnivore diet programs about ‘pooping on a carnivore diet’, and I can tell you it is without a doubt so much better.
Wait until you experience a ‘ghost poop’! They just slip out effortlessly, every few days with no wiping necessary.
Such a change from a fibre rich diet where we are pooping every few hours with a very messy clean up! Whoever thought fibre was essential for the digestive system have obviously never experienced digestion without it.
Can I Include Some Plants?
Yes you definitely can. The carnivore diet is an elimination diet though, and many people have intolerances to plants without even realising it.
Animal foods are the optimal food for humans, and they contain all the essential vitamins and minerals in the most bio-available forms, and in the right balance.
By peeling your diet right back to just animal foods for at least 90 days, you will allow your body to experience optimal healing and nutrient absorption.
At the end of the 90 day program, you can absolutely add vegetables back in if you want to.
Many don’t want to add them back in at this stage, as they feel so amazing without them.
But, if you choose to add vegetables and fruits back in, I recommend adding just one back in at a time and managing symptoms such as bloat, inflammation, energy levels and joint pain.
